Plans to open a new village playschool next months have been hit by delays.

Snowy's Nursery and Pre-School in Brundall, which will replace Raschools Playgroup, is set to open in June.

It had been hoped the new playgroup would open in April but the date has been pushed back by two months due to building works.

Cara Mason, project manager, said: “We've got a little bit more to do to make it acoustically sound, such as the dry lining, but we are on course money-wise and have the fencing up now which will make the garden safer, fire alarms in place and a disabled toilet is going in at the moment. We're getting there and it's coming on nicely.”

Snowy's will be based in a house owned by Broadland District councillor Michael Snowling MBE in Braydeston Avenue.

It has been set up after Raschools, which runs sessions in the Memorial Hall, was inundated following the closure of St Laurence Nursery and could not cater for all the children in the village.

The new nursery will provide for 12 children and will be located in the ground floor of the house while the pre-school, for 16 children, will be in a former educational mobile classroom in the garden.

The committee behind the project has received a number of grants including from the National Lottery, Grassroots, Broadland District Council, the parish council and Norwich Town Close Estate Charity.
