Brown brace as power Rangers battle ends all square
A bright and sunny morning saw me take a trip to Wymondham where the home side faced Acle Rangers in a Premier Division top-of-the-table clash. The visitors took the lead on 16 minutes, when a Ray Goodson corner was punched into his own net by the Wymondham goalkeeper.
In 1A, there was no joy for second-placed North Walsham who made the long trip to Aslacton only to be beaten 4-0. Horsford SC were 2-0 (Riches and Cooper) winners over Fiveways and Vale Longo scored the only goal of the game through Dan Arden at Norman Wanderers Res to record their first ever win in senior football. There were two goals for Steve van Raalte and one for Lee Wade as Hainford YCOB beat Eaton FC 3-1. St Faiths are the new leaders of 1A after a 3-0 (Jordan King, Lee Cork & og) victory at previous leaders Aylsham Sunday. Sprowston Rovers are second as they scored seven without reply at Hillside OB and Haig FC are fourth after a 5-1 (Marsh, R.Cunningham, Trollope, Thurston and Lloyd) home win over Sprowston Wanderers. There were also home wins for Catton, 4-1 over Earlham United, and Unicorns, 2-1 against Prince of Denmark.
2A leaders Dussingdale Rovers had a 2-0 win at Norman Wanderers A and are three points clear of The Castlegate, who had a 4-2 home win over Deopham. John Davis, Steve Rudder and Lawrence Keelty were all on target as DCS Rapid beat Acle Wanderers 3-0 and The Otter were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Upton. Matt Seager and David Spauls scored as Stoke FC beat The Stores 2-0 and The Griffen scored five ( Odeh 2, Layton Henry & Jones) in winning at home to River Garden FC. Michael Robinson scored the goal that took Rose Tavern to the top of 2B after a 1-0 win at Acle Rangers Res. Morning leaders Spixworth needed a last minute equaliser to take a point in a 3-3 draw against PL Rangers, whilst Hethersett found their shooting boots, winning7-3 at Poringland Res. The Gordon and Wymondham Res took a point each as they shared six goals, Cropley, Dudley and Durrell for The Gordon, and Ribs Rovers had their first victory of the season, 2-0 at Sporting Farmhouse.
Moles Rest top 3B after a 5-0 win over Hingham Sunday, whilst a Mark Ratcliffe goal was not enough for AFC Oak as they went down 2-1 at home to Heartsease FC for whom Lee Spencer and Alex Ashmore scored. Earlham Utd Res made they trip to Aylsham Res an enjoyable one, coming back with a 2-1 win.
In 4A, leaders Riverside Rovers drew 2-2 draw at Constable Crusaders, whilst Hockering Res kept their good run going, winning 3-1 at home to Sporting Longdale Res. Tom Smith scored twice as Eaton Young Boys had a 6-2 victory over Silver Fox Res, whilst New Buckenham and Caseys Cosmos Res shared six goals for a point each. Temples Property had a 3-2 home win over Earlham Colney. One Love United march on in 4B after winning 4-1 (Isnaba Gomes, Arms Diallo, Nuno DaCruz and Armando Bofuki) at Hethersett Res and Salhouse are two points behind them after Neil Woolner 2, Michael Somerfield and a last gasp Martin Woolner goal gave them a 4-3 victory over Eaton Beehive. Bell Inn thumped eight without reply against Windmill Elite, and although Tom Frost and Sam Lincoln were on target for Drayton, it wasn't enough as Briston Wanderers won 5-2. Spixworth Res had their first win of the season, 2-0 at Wendene Wanderers, whilst Dereham United won 4-3 at Chapelfield Rovers.
