Visitors to this year’s Royal Norfolk Show will for the first time get to experience a large, high quality LED screen that will get them closer to all the Grand Ring action.

The Show Big Screen courtesy of Richardson’s Boating Holidays will be used to screen an appearance by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery on Wednesday and Thursday - this year’s headline attraction - as well as highlights from around the Norfolk Showground.

Greg Munford, chief executive of Richardsons Leisure, said: “The Royal Norfolk Show Big Screen will give spectators a closer than ever experience of the Grand Ring action and entertainment. Richardson’s Boating Holidays is pleased to sponsor the Big Screen experience and can’t wait for ‘Show time’!”

Other highlights this year include a parachute display by the RAF Falcons, a programme of professional horse riding and qualifying events and the Parade of Hounds.

More than 700 retailers including local and national shopping brands will also be displaying their wares while the Adnams Food and Drink Experience will be packed with over 70 local producers offering a unique collection of local foods.

Show organisers said that while no specific threats had been made, they would be going all out to ensure the safety of visitors. Working with Norfolk Constabulary, a security team and specialist advisors, organisers said new security measures were being implemented. These include deploying additional security personnel and running a “search capability which will be used as appropriate”.

Show director Mark Nicholas said they did not expect any delays at gates as a result of security. “There are no bag restrictions in place and people can bring bags but we will carry out random searches if needed,” he said.

Due to the expected volume of people attending, warnings have been issued over an increase in traffic.

Visitors are urged to follow all related signs, share cars where possible or make use of bus services from the Norwich city centre.

Norwich-based forecaster Weatherquest said there was a chance of rain over the two days. “The weather is looking a bit unsettled and it seems there could be some rain,” said forecaster James Wilby.

“It’s still uncertain how much rain or what the affected areas would be though.”
