A city landlord has urged punters to help support a Norwich arts venue which has been left thousands of pounds out of pocket after a theft by a cleaner.

As reported last week Norwich Arts Centre has been left reeling from severe financial loss after Terence Reid took 10,000 in cash when cleaning alone on the night shift.

Less than 3,000 has been recovered because Reid, 34, of Goodhale Road, Bowthorpe, claims he left the rest on a train leaving the venue a registered charity more than 7,000 out of pocket - sparking fears they may have to make redundancies.

On Saturday city band Tin Man will be playing at the St Benedict's Street venue where they will be launching their latest EP I've Got My Lithium Ion You.

Chris Higgins, landlord of the Trafford pub on Grove Road, Norwich, has about 40 tickets available for the gig which will also feature The Barlights, These Ghosts, and Alloy Ark.

Mr Higgins said by purchasing tickets for the gig, which starts at 8pm on Saturday, people could help support the popular music venue at this difficult time.

Reid, who admitted the theft which was discovered on January 25, admitted a charge of burglary when he appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday.

He was sentenced to a 26-week prison term, suspended for 18 months, ordered to undertake 10 days of alcohol treatment, complete 200 hours' unpaid work and pay 240 in compensation.

For more information about tickets call Mr Higgins at the Trafford on 01603 628466. Alternatively call the box office at the Norwich Arts Centre on 01603 660352. Tickets are 4 in advance or 6 on the door.
