A generally dry day with any showers likely to be only light is forecast for the region's biggest one day agricultural show - which also majors in family fun.

Last year's event endured prolonged heavy rain which hit attendance and meant the show was unable to do its annual hand out of grants to good causes.

That came a year after a record £52,500 was given away, showing how weather dependent the show was said secretary Chris Self.

The site, which slopes down to the lake, was well drained so rain earlier this week had not been a problem and had even greened up the grass, he added.

'We have a strong loyal contingent who come whatever the weather,' said Mr Self.

'It is just a matter of sticking your wellies and coat in the car in case and coming along and enjoying yourself - rather than being stuck indoors,' he added.

The Aylsham Show, in its 69th year, normally draws 15,000 visitors from town and country.

This year's arena attractions include a motorcycle display team, parachutists, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and racing camels.

There will also be parades by the North Norfolk Harriers, classic tractors and the livestock winners.

The winners of the Norfolk Hero Food and Drink Awards will also be announced in the food and drink marquee at 11.30am.

The EDP will have a stand at the show - and coupons in the paper on Saturday and Monday will get you a free cup or tea or coffee when you drop in.

Discount tickets, bought beforehand, cost £12 for adults over 16 or £15 on the gate. It is free for children under 16, as is parking.
