Norfolk-based theatre ensemble Curious Directive is bringing their Edinburgh Fringe First winning show Your Last Breath to Norwich Playhouse — and broadcasting it live on the web.

The company is currently in the middle of a UK tour and the show on March 19 will be the first time the company has performed in Norwich.

There is also a closed 'morning matinee' performance for local school children on March 20, where many of the audience members will be attending a piece of theatre for the very first time.

Another first, Curious Directive will be live streaming the Playhouse performance, allowing a much wider audience to interact with the work. This will allow people to enjoy the show from the comfort of their own homes via the company's website.

Sophie Larsmon, Curious Directive's associate producer, said: 'Just as the Curious team are continually trying to push creative barriers in terms of the stories we tell and the forms we tell them through, the company is also committed to engaging with innovative technologies to present our work to as wide an audience as possible.

'This live streaming is very much an experiment for us, and we hope the demand for it is there. We see it as a baby step towards connecting people with our work in new and inventive ways.'

Your Last Breath explores visions of isolation, origins and northern Norwegian mountains. Using video projection, live piano score and intricate movement, the show unravels the humanity behind the cutting edge scientific practice of 'suspended animation.'

The piece — devised by the company — was inspired by the astonishing true story of Anna Bgenholm, an extreme skier in northern Norway who, whilst out in the mountains in 1999, slipped and became trapped under ice.

Her heart stopped as her temperature dropped to 13.7o, the lowest ever recorded temperature. Miraculously, after four hours her heart started up again.

The piece also follows three further storylines in 1876, 2011 and 2034. Christopher, a Scottish cartographer in 1876, travels from London to chart the charted areas of northern Norway. He bonds with the indigenous Saami people and as the bitter winter sets in, he struggles to survive in the harsh landscape. In 2011, Freija, a successful businesswoman, travels to the mountains in Norway to scatter her father's ashes. She discovers a fragile old document which changes her irreversibly. In 2034, Nicholas argues his medical case and explains why Anna's accident saved his life as a new born baby.

The piece, made in collaboration with anaesthetist Dr. Vassilis Athanassoglou, is a prime example of the work Curious Directive make.

Since its inception in 2008, the company has been making innovative theatre which peers through the lens of science.
