Another city pub has reopened with a new name, just a week after its new owners rebranded a venue in the Golden Triangle.

The Woolpack in Muspole Street officially reopens this weekend as The Woolie, and is being run by the same group that is in charge at The Mulberry, on Unthank Road, formerly the Rose Valley Tavern.

Indulge Ltd, an independent restaurant and bar group, under managing director Sarah Jane Roberts, also runs The Langtry and Langtry Rooms hotel, both in Unthank Road, Beluga bar & eaterie in Upper King Street and The Buck Inn in Thorpe St Andrew.

The Woolie, whose new manager is Mark Harris, is an historic Grade 2 listed building that dates back to the 18th century.

Danny Banthorpe, Indulge's promotions manager, said: 'For far too long, Norwich's second oldest pub, The Woolpack has sat dormant but at last it has been regenerated, rebranded and renamed The Woolie.

'Keeping its original charm, character and ambience The Woolie promises to provide local residents, businesses and students a traditional boozer that's open all day, every day from 11am until late.'

The Woolie will be very student friendly offering all students a discount, he said, and will be serving food all day.

Mr Banthorpe added: 'There is also a pre-order service, simply call and order from the office or lecture room and your meal and even a pint will be waiting on arrival. Sundays will have the 'soon to be famous' Woolie Sunday roasts.'

As reported, The Woolpack pub has had a chequered recent history and reopened last August after being shut for nine months.

The Evening News though our Love Your Local campaign has been urging punters to return to pubs that are struggling to beat the recession.
