34th Norwich beer festival logo competition launched

The 33rd Norwich beer festival may have just ended, but organisers’ thoughts have already turned to preparing for the 34th.

To start with, they need a logo for the festival, and are again inviting entries for the competition, which has been running for 17 years.

Festival organiser Martin Ward said: “In previous years we have received a remarkable number of entries. They are many and varied, and the standard has been very high.

“The most important element of the design is that a dragon must be included, but abstract is okay; maximum five colours (although four is preferable) – this includes any black or white parts of the design.

“The overall winning design will become the logo for the festival and will be used on our usual range of products.”

Last year’s winning logo was of a dragon emerging from a pumpkin designed by Katy Mavillo, from Hellesdon.

The winning entry will receive £100 plus a selection of goodies at the festival. All entrants over 18 will receive a complimentary ticket to the festival and under-18s a book voucher.

Emailed entries should be in a computer-readable format (Jpeg, Tiff, PNG, PDF, Postscript, GIMP, Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw) with no MS Word doc files. Entries (one per sheet or email, maximum size A4) can be sent to Logo Competition, 8 Pond Road, Horsford NR10 3SW or to bfstaff@live.co.uk by Monday, February 14.

On the back of the paper or in the email, specify “Adult” or “Under 18” and include your name, contact details and age (if under 18).

The 2011 festival runs from Monday, October 24 to Saturday, October 29 at St Andrews and Blackfriars Halls.
