Norfolk-based Norse Group has agreed a new long-term partnership with Calderdale Council to deliver waste and recycling services across the Yorkshire borough.
Together, the company and council have formed Calderdale Norse Ltd, a jointly owned trading company, which went live on August 1.
Operating under an initial eight-year term, the partnership will deliver collections to around 95,000 households and manage household waste recycling centres.
The service will involve more than 7.5 million scheduled collections each year.
Justin Galliford, Norse CEO, said the partnership will support jobs in Norwich, where Norse is based.

“This partnership is focused on keeping services reliable and consistent for their residents, while building on strong local knowledge to support communities, strengthen long-term sustainability, and keep investing in the future.
“This new company, the latest in a long line of joint ventures with councils, will help support the Norfolk economy and provide jobs in the county. Norse is one of East Anglia’s success stories, working with the public sector and exporting essential services to communities across the UK.”
Norse provides services to local authorities. The group has an annual turnover of more than £350 million and employs more than 9,000 people.
Councillor Dan Sutherland, Calderdale Council’s leader, said: “Working closely with Norse, we are preparing for a smooth transition, so residents continue to receive high-quality services while maintaining Calderdale’s strong recycling performance.”
Located between Leeds and Manchester in West Yorkshire, Calderdale Council says the partnership is part of Vision 2034 - a shared, long-term ambition to make the borough a better place for everyone over the next decade.
