Being from East Anglia, Canaries fans are used to some long and drawn-out away days.
But one group of Norwich City supporters in the US for the World Cup travelled all the way over the pond to see what life is like in the other Norwich.
Rhys Moore, Greg Roper, James Debbage, Paolo Payne and Mike Delbridge made the arduous journey over the Atlantic to watch England's 0-0 draw with Ghana on Tuesday in Boston.
The group, who are all from the wider Norwich area, were making their way up to New York on Thursday when they decided to take a detour to a familiar-sounding city.
The off-piste mission saw them end up in Norwich, Connecticut, some 3,000 miles from Norfolk.
After a routine photo posing with their Canaries flag, a local reporter approached the group.
"He said it's the best story he's had for 25 years," Mr Roper said.
The reporter welcomed the group to the city and they were then escorted to see the mayor, Swarnjit Singh.
"We pre-planned it, we knew it was on the way back to New York,” Mr Moore explained.
"We were stood posing by the big welcome sign a lot of towns have when the reporter pulled up.
"We walked into the town hall and the reporter rang the doorbell for the mayor and he asked him if he wanted to meet us.
"After he had got the shock off his face, he told us he was very pleased to meet us."
The city was founded in 1659 and has a population of around 40,000.
Its local team, CT United, plays in MLS Next Pro, the third tier of American football and sports a purple home kit.
Mr Debbage carried out the all-important task of informing Mayor Singh that the real mayor of Norwich is, in fact, Kenny McLean.
"We were only meant to be there for two minutes," Mr Roper added.
"Then we were whisked off to see the mayor and went to the local pub."
