A woman died in hospital days after being knocked over by a dog while she was out for a walk.
Pamela Prior had been out walking with her husband on January 24 this year when the incident took place, Suffolk Coroners’ Court heard.
An inquest into Mrs Prior’s death was formally opened before the court on Friday.
Mrs Prior, 79, from Norwich, was “knocked over by a large dog”, the court was told.
She landed on her left side, and found she was in too much pain to place any weight on this side of her body.
She presented herself to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds and was found to have sustained a fracture which required surgery.
Mrs Prior was thought to be recovering from surgery well. However, she was found unresponsive in her hospital bed on the morning of January 30. She was declared deceased shortly thereafter.
An inquest into Mrs Prior’s death is expected to conclude in the coming weeks.
