A woman from Bowthorpe has been awarded a British Empire Medal for services to the community.
Sally Simpson, a retired teacher from City College, has received the award as part the King's Birthday Honours Lists.
Ms Simpson, who lives in Bowthorpe, has been involved with a number of organisations in her community, including Bowthorpe Community Trust, Bowthorpe Church and the St Michael and All Angels Ruin Trust.
She moved into Clover Hill in 1981 before moving closer to the centre of Bowthorpe in 1986.
In 2023, the community of Bowthorpe set out to reassert its independence and sense of identity after decades of urban sprawl led to it being seen as more of a suburb of Norwich.
The Bowthorpe Village Sign Group held a competition to come up with a design for a new sign.
The winning design was created by Ms Simpson.
Ms Simpson was also involved with the award-winning St Michael's Workshop which supplied Godly Play creative materials to churches, schools and hospitals.
The project was started by Barbara and Peter Tomlinson in Bacton before the couple moved to Bowthorpe.
The project grew with the help and support of Ms Simpson and her brother Ray.
