A married couple have opened a café in Norwich after falling in love with the city six years ago.

Geralda Chotza, 32, and Andreas Zyfi, 33, have taken over the former Nourish site in Grove Road and renamed it Lela’s.

The pair, originally from Greece, moved from Hertfordshire to Norwich in 2020 after falling in love with the city during a summer break in 2019.

They decided that now was the perfect time to realise their ambition of being business owners after working in the hospitality industry years.

Andreas, who has worked as a chef and restaurant manager since 2013, said: "Nowadays everything is so negative and you see businesses closing.

"But we were at the stage in life where we thought it is now or never.

"I have worked in hospitality for a long time as a chef, working my way up.

"But I always wanted to start something myself.

It is small and close to the community which is what we wanted."

He added: "We have lived in the city since 2020.

"We visited Norwich for a small break in summer 2019 and fell in love with the city and the coast.

"We always admired this small cosy café on our way in to the city centre and when it became available the time was right - as well as the place.

"Our only big goal at the moment is to build relationships with the community around us and try to connect people through our café.

"If people like it and the demand is great we will consider expanding.

"But at the moment we just want to enjoy the journey."

The café offers breakfast and lunch, has options for kids and a selection of grab-and-go sandwiches.

It also serves smoothies, coffee and cake.
