City Hall has no firm plans on how it will combat pigeons plaguing Norwich Market despite this being a key part of its scheme to revamp the site.
Council officials have floated the idea of introducing a non-harmful 'fire gel' to deter birds from bugging punters and traders at the city landmark.
But they remain undecided on the best way to ward off pesky pigeons and have thrown the question to the public.
A council spokesman said: “We have not yet decided on the best way forward to deal with issue of pigeons in the market.
"We recently included a question about pigeons in our public survey and are now reviewing the responses in more detail to help determine the best course of action.”
The question was part of the council’s Future of Norwich Market survey which is designed to let people have their say on a planned major revamp of the hundreds-year-old site.

Norwich City Council agreed a £740,000 investment earlier this year to fund its design work and smaller-scale improvements, which it hopes to implement by early next year.
The various designs options for the revamp include an arcade running through the centre of the market, a courtyard in the middle, or a series of small open spaces that could be used for special events or pop-up stalls.
The plans also include upgrades to the roller shutters and new CCTV systems.
Pigeons are not a new topic of conversation around the market.
Around a decade ago, an influx of pigeons was blamed by traders for driving customers away from stalls on the market.
Stall holders were also increasingly concerned by pigeons damaging their stock through their fouling - asking people not to feed the birds.
