Food delivery giant Deliveroo is investigating a city burglary involving someone dressed as one of its drivers.

A figure wearing the firm's distinctive blue-green uniform was captured entering a home in Lyhart Road in Eaton Rise on August 29. 

Arriving by moped, they spent around seven minutes inside before leaving while wearing a Deliveroo jacket and a motorcycle helmet.

Police confirmed nothing was taken and enquiries are ongoing to identify the burglar. 

Deliveroo, which has more than 50,000 self-employed riders in the UK alone, condemned their actions. 

A spokeswoman for the company said: "This is completely unacceptable.

"We are committed to ensuring the highest standards of behaviour and are very concerned to see this footage. 

"We take such matters extremely seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation.

"We will of course be prepared to work with the police to support any investigation."

Despite being seen wearing Deliveroo garb, the suspected burglar may not be employed by the company. 

Branded jackets and backpacks can be bought second-hand on websites such as eBay and fake Deliveroo outfits have been used by criminals in the past to remain undetected by police.
