A familiar face to generations of college students has been honoured with a British Empire Medal in the King's Birthday Honours.
Alan Twiddy, a technical team leader at City College Norwich, has been supporting students and teachers at the city campus for 36 years.
In this time, he has become a well-known figure around the college, offering technical support for many of its courses - particularly in construction and engineering.
His work behind the scenes at the college has proved vital to making sure students and apprentices can hone their skills during their studies.
Mr Twiddy said: "The news came out of the blue - it was quite a surprise.
"I've just been doing my job to the best of my ability, supported by a great team of technicians - it really is a team effort.
"I'm not one of fame and glory, but it is appreciated."
Jerry White, the college's principal, said: "Alan has constantly gone above and beyond to provide exceptional standards of technical support.
"Alan's length of service and ability to continue to drive the college forward is truly inspiration and worthy of this recognition."
