A person has died after being hit by a train.

Greater Anglia passengers between Norwich and London faced severe disruptions this morning after a person was hit at Witham railway station in Essex.

A British Transport Police spokesman has since confirmed officers and paramedics attended but that the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

He added the incident is not being treated as suspicious and said a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Greater Anglia has said all lines have reopened but warned disruptions should be expected until around 11am, with delays of up to 30 minutes being possible.
