A road in Sprowston was blocked after a piece of machinery toppled over onto the tarmac.
The roller machine was left blocking Blue Boar Lane near Norwich after it appeared to fall off the back of a lorry holding other machinery yesterday evening.
The road opposite Sprowston Garden Centre was closed as attempts were made to clear the machinery.
The roller appeared to have been on its way back from the site on the same road.
Heavy traffic built in the area as cars were turned away, causing delays on the neighbouring Salhouse Road.
