A determined 11-year-old runner has completed his 250th Parkrun to become one of the youngest participants in England to reach the milestone.

Alfred Goodson began running 2km (1.25 miles) at Eaton’s junior Parkrun and has been taking part since the age of four.

Alfred said: “I feel like ever since I’ve done it, since I was young, I feel like it’s become a part of me, part of my daily, weekly routine."

Alfred’s uncle, James, added: “I just think it’s fantastic isn’t it, we’ve got to admire him because he’s been going out for years now. He goes out in the rain, in the cold and when it's frosty in the middle of winter.”

Alfred hopes to complete 400 Parkruns before his 14th birthday and is most grateful to the volunteers who turn out every week at the 5km fun run.

The achievement was marked by the Lord Mayor of Norwich, James Wright, who in one of his final acts as mayor attended on Saturday to present Alfred with a 250th milestone wristband as he passed the finishing line.
