The future of a city car dealership is unclear as company bosses announce changes and cuts across the UK.

Car Shop, opposite the Asda supermarket in Boundary Road, is one of 11 sites owned by the Sytner Group, which is set for some changes - including a major rebrand.

The dealer group bought the business in 2017 and has since opened two more sites.

A statement released by Sytner Group said: "We can confirm that after conducting a strategic review, including a successful pilot at one former Car Shop location, the Group is consulting with our Car Shop team regarding the potential rebranding of the majority of our Car Shop locations, to become Sytner Select Approved Used Cars superstores.

"In addition, we can confirm that we are also in advanced negotiations with an interested party to sell a minority of the CarShop locations as a going concern, as well as potentially closing one location.

"Our priority as always, will be to protect as many jobs as possible whilst ensuring that the long-term future success of the business is secured."

The Sytner Group is yet to announce which locations have been identified for sale or closure.
