A teenager is using her mental health diagnosis to help others by starting her own business.

Aleah Rumbelow from Great Plumstead has launched a cleaning company called The OCD Cleaner.

The 17-year-old was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) when she was 14 and believes her experiences can aid others who struggle to keep a clean home.

"Obviously everyone with OCD has a different experience but for me, it appears as perfectionism and cleaning," she said.

"My OCD is very much based in my own environment so it doesn't affect me when I'm in someone else's space.

"Because of this, my absolute dream is to work with people who are hoarding and finding it difficult to clean."

Miss Rumbelow hopes sharing her story will be a comfort to others in a similar situation after spending her teenage years struggling at school and feeling isolated by people who did not understand.

"It was very difficult at school so I left early and never finished," she said.

"I tried to go back to college but found it really hard.

"I just hope that my new business can help make a difference to others who are suffering and don't know where to turn for help.

"Some people have strange attitudes towards mental health - there's still a stigma - but it's a part of my life and who I am so I might as well embrace it."
