A teenager arrested for GBH has been released on bail after fans clashed outside Carrow Road following the play-off semi final between Norwich City and Leeds United.

A man in his 50s was charged with assault on an emergency worker, common assault and possession of Class A drugs following scuffles as fans left the match.

Two men were arrested on Sunday afternoon after a man in his 60s reported being punched outside the Canaries stadium.

An object, confirmed by police as not being a knife, is thought to have been thrown at the victim who suffered a cut to his chin.

Posts have been widely circulated on social media showing the man bleeding from an assault.

The post reads: "We came out of Carrow Road after the game to chants of Turks with knives and Galatasaray."

A man aged in his late teens was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault GBH and a public order offence.

He was taken to Wymondham police station for questioning and has been released on bail to appear at the station on July 13.

Graham Riches, 50, of Dyer Close, Horsford, was arrested and charged with assault on an emergency worker, common assault and possession of Class A drugs. 

He has been bailed to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on June 7.

Leeds have condemned the attack on one of their fans, in a statement which said: “Leeds United condemn any violence at football matches, which has no place in the game.

“The club would like to thank the emergency services for their quick response to the supporter and the swift action taken following the incident.”
