A woman who turned a "damp" caravan into a dream Norfolk holiday home has gone viral on social media.

Hayley Rubery, 33, and her partner, Ben, 40, had always loved the idea of van life but couldn't afford a £30,000 price tag on a big van renovation.

But after spotting a 30-year-old caravan on Facebook the couple decided to buy it after bargaining the price down by £1,000 to £500 after discovering dampness.

Ms Rubbery has become a social media sensation as she films the renovations with one video being viewed more than 1.1 million times on TikTok.

Currently in week nine of her journey, she has only spent £300, taking out the damp wood and has completely re-done the kitchen adopting a "winging it" policy.

Hayley, a full-time influencer from near Norwich, said: "We've always loved the idea of van life.

"It's a 30-year-old caravan so we expected a bit of damp but we didn't let it put us off."

Hayley and Ben, who works in recruitment, moved to Norfolk three years ago and have slowly been renovating their house.

The cost of their house project didn't leave much for them to buy a tiny home for holidays, but when they spotted the caravan on Facebook in February, they decided to take the leap.

Sticking to a tight £500 budget they started by refilling the outside of the caravan to tackle the damp problem, replacing any wood with new plywood from a local timber yard.

Using budget hacks such as stick-on tiles and leftover paint, the kitchen was transformed for just £60.

Tackling the bathroom, bedroom and living area next, the two hope to complete the project in time for their summer road trip to Scotland in August.
