A road in Spixworth is due to close for essential drainage works next week.

The works in Sydney Road will begin on March 11 and are expected to take 13 weeks to complete.

They will include the installation of a new pipe system and gullies to alleviate current issues with standing water during periods of heavy rain.

Sydney Road, north of Christine Road, will be closed for the works and a signed diversion route will be in place.

Access for people living in the area will be allowed but there will be limited access at times due to trenches being dug.

Locals are advised not to park on the road between 7:30am and 4pm.

During evenings and weekends, the east section of Sydney Road to the cul-de-sac will be open for access.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

The work, which will cost £180,000, is being carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and its contractors.
