A popular vintage tearoom in the Norwich Lanes has closed for refurbishment.

Biddy's Tea Room, in Lower Goat Lane, closed on Tuesday for a 10-day revamp.

The venue, which is known for its range of more than 50 teas and baked treats, will reopen on March 8 in time for Mother's Day.

Its management shared an image of the stripped interior on social media and explained that they are hoping to "create a bit more space for customers" during the revamp.

The original Biddy's interior was Victorian-era-inspired, filled with vintage detailing such as vibrant wallpapers, mismatched furniture, chintzy crockery and quirky curiosities.

It has become a staple of the Biddy's brand since the business was born.

Biddy's first opened on Valentine's Day in 2011 when Charlie Buchan asked her friend who owned the shop below if she could use the space upstairs to serve tea and cake.

The tearoom's sister venue in Market Street in Aylsham will remain open as normal.
