A national food chain will be bringing its first outlet to the Fine City after plans to move into the site of a former burger restaurant were approved. 

Rosa's Thai will replace the former Byron in Chantry Square, outside Chantry Place shopping centre.

The restaurant chain will set up a large indoor and outdoor seating area, alongside a waiting lobby for customers and order collection.

Rosa's Thai has outlets in cities including London, Glasgow and Birmingham.

It offers "authentic Thai food" and desserts - with deliveries also available on Deliveroo.

Byron Burger closed its Norwich restaurant after the firm went into administration early last year.

The plans are among a number of high-profile changes at Chantry Place, including a new four-screen Everyman cinema at the shopping centre which is on the way and high-end fashion brand Flannels being set to open in the former Sports Direct store.

Norwich City Council has approved the planning application from Rosa's Thai but the business is yet to release plans of when it hopes to open.
