Pancake Day got off to a flipping brilliant start for a Norwich crêperie, which recently opened a second city branch.

Couple Chris and Lauren Smith have run Christophe's Crêpes in Pottergate since 2020, with a range of sweet and savoury options.

Then in January 2024, they expanded with a dessert bar at Yalm Food Hall in the Royal Arcade.

Christophe's Kitchen is located on the ground floor and it serves crêpes, stacked pancakes, French toast and mini Dutch pancakes.

There is also a conveyor belt of baked desserts such as crêpe cheesecake and apple caramel open pie.

Shrove Tuesday is always their busiest day of the year and there has been high demand at both Pottergate and Yalm.

Mr Smith said: "It was a mad rush to get everything ready but it is very exciting to have two sites this year.

"We opened at Yalm at midday and the orders were flying in straight away."

Asked what the most popular topping has been, he added: "Lemon and sugar but we have also used loads of strawberries."
