A social enterprise has launched a fundraising campaign to secure the "long-term future" of its historic Norwich home.

The Shoebox Community Hub was previously given notice by its landlord to leave its Castle Meadow base in April 2024.

Fortunately, the team recently managed to negotiate a new three-year lease until December 31 2026.

The Shoebox's commercial activities fund its various community projects and staying at this site is particularly important as it offers hugely popular tours of the hidden street below the building.

Originally built into the Norwich Castle ditch, it features architecture dating from the 15th century.

A spokesperson said: "We are on a mission to secure the long-term future of The Shoebox Community Hub and the historic hidden street.

"We need your support so we can secure the space for our community and preserve the unique, local history for years to come.

"If we are unable to buy the building then we will use the funds raised to secure an alternative long-term home."
