City neighbours are in the dark over when a street light will shine back on the estate after nearly two weeks out of action.

People living in Church View Close, Sprowston, had part of their road dug up near the cut-through to Blenheim Road in December by Anglian Water.

However, two weeks after the work finished people are still waiting on the nearby street light to be turned on again after claiming safety was a concern for those walking through.

The 83-year-old said: "The street light shines on the cut-through which is used by a lot of us, but the ground is really uneven.

"A lot of the people who live here are a little older, so if any of us were to trip or fall there it could end up being serious.

"The only thing I could do is go up there and fix it myself but I‘m 83 and I don’t think that would be a good idea.

"I've tried speaking to the companies and council but I haven't gotten anywhere with it and it's disheartening."

A spokesman for Norfolk County Council said: "The light was turned off as result of works being carried out in the area by Anglia Water, who will arrange its full reinstatement once complete."

Anglian Water are confident in resolving the issues soon, adding: "We’re working with UK Power Networks who are looking into the issue and we hope to have the light switched back on by early next week."

Mrs Peters added: "People here are really unhappy.

"The only thing left to do was shout about the issue and hopefully it will be sorted sooner rather than later."
