A Sprowston woman has been surprised by the popularity in her organised litter picks to keep her area clean.

Gerri Waring has been organising the events since 2023, but has been blown away by the number of people keen to get involved.

She plans events dependent on her schedule and is supported by her husband, Tony, and close friend, Louise Smith.

Mrs Waring says that Ms Smith "very quickly became a vital member of the team."

The team is reported to have collected a wide range of rubbish from Harrison Woods just off Blue Boar Lane.

The groups aims to encourage people to take care of their waste responsibly.

Ms Waring said: "Literally everyone can help by disposing of their rubbish in a responsible and considerate way.

"It is extremely easy.

"If they carried the chocolate bar, boiled sweet, drink or whatever in the wrapper or container, they can carry the empty wrapper a little further to the nearest bin."

Mrs Waring also highlighted the health risks dog faeces can pose to humans, urging dog walkers to bin it.
