A magical world of scientific fun and games for families is the focus of a new business which has opened in the city.

The Exploring Science Amusement Lab in Bowthorpe promises interactive and immersive experiences for children, where the aim is to learn while having fun.

Owners Ines and Rafaello De Luca, from Taverham, are hoping to offer something “completely new to Norwich'' at the Francis Way venue.

Best enjoyed by children aged over six, the lab is laid out across 15,000sqft and divided into a science section upstairs and an amusements section downstairs.

Ines said: “We’ve been inspired by attractions in London, Dubai and from all around the world.

“My husband is an engineer. During lockdown he had the idea of creating a place where children could come and have fun with their families and experience science, optical illusions and other amusements.”

In the science area, children can explore a large collection of fossils, insects, minerals and shells and complete various physics and chemistry experiments.

Amusements include an escape room, an upside-down room and an infinity mirror room inspired by a similar installation in London.

Virtual reality rides offer headset experiences based on racing cars and motorcycles and a cafe serves hot drinks, healthy snacks and food such as pizzas and hamburgers. In keeping with the science theme, food will be served to guests via robots.
