An unannounced inspection saw a new city care home receive top grading.

An Environmental Health Officer, who checks to see if the homes meet all necessary food hygiene and safety requirements, carried out the inspection.

This news has brought joy to all at Mousehold View, a residential and dementia care home.

Head chef Rob Mann said: "This really is a truly special moment for all of our Hospitality Team here at the home – to obtain the highest rating possible really means so much to us all."

The home, which opened in October 2023, has been incredibly well-received in the area with some people moving in permanently while others have enjoyed respite stays.

Home manager, Nigel Reeve, said: "It has been exceptionally busy – I have never known anything like it.

"We have received so many compliments and reviews from residents, their families and healthcare professionals too – a big thank you for all your amazing support."

When the care home opened in October 2023 managers were shocked to receive more than 1000 applications having only expected around 20.

Now, following its success Nigel is gearing up to move forward early this year: "We have been so busy we have brought forward our second phase of recruitment at Mousehold View to ensure that our home can cater for the demand of those requiring care both in Sprowston and further afield."
