The planned opening date for a new medical centre near Norwich has been revealed. 

Local leaders in Rackheath are hoping work will start on the new facility in Green Lane East next month - with a view to the practice being up and running by March 2025.

The project received planning permission in December following a review from both NHS bosses and the Department for Health and Social Care.

Work is expected to begin on site in February and construction of the modular building is due to take between eight and nine months. 

Some legal agreements must then be reached before the site can be connected to NHS services.

District councillors Fran Whymark and Martin Murrell, who have been working to get a new practice in Rackheath amid the area's housing boom, have promised to do "everything we can to facilitate progress and get our communities the medical centre they need".

"We will work continue to ensure partners work together to get on site as soon as possible," said Mr Whymark. 

Mr Murrell added: "With the expansion of housing and infrastructure, this is vital to the area.

"It is essential we work hard to get this up and running."
