A man has been taken to hospital after being pulled from the river in Norwich.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 11.19am after a man was seen in the river near the Compleat Angler.

An eyewitness in the area saw what he thought was a dark blue coat floating down the river before a firefighter jumped in and pulled a man out.

The man was given emergency treatment by paramedics and has been taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Three fire crews from Carrow, Sprowston and North Earlham worked as part of a specialist water rescue team to pull the man out.

A cordon is in place on the footpath that runs behind Wagamama. 

Koblenz Avenue has not been closed but is down to one lane.
