A family's new year got off to a stressful start after their car was believed to have been targeted at random by yobs.

Megan Woodhouse lives in Penn Grove with her fiance Luke Roper and two children, aged four and two years old.

But in the early hours of New Year's Day they were made aware of mindless vandalism, claiming a glass bottle was thrown through the back window of their Ford Focus.

Megan, 26 - who didn't wish to be pictured for fear of retaliation - said: "It looks like someone has thrown a cider bottle and smashed my partner's back boot window.

"We don't think anything was taken but we've had our things all over the place because of the holidays, so we aren't totally sure.

"Christmas was expensive for us and it's going to cost us about £80 to replace the window, plus however much more to have the broken glass cleared, which we can't afford right now.

"It's been really stressful for all of us because it's not only going to cost us money to fix it, but we're also without our car which is necessary for us to go to work and the shops."

The family contacted the police and reported the incident.
