Norwich is always evolving and these are some of the recent changes to the Riverside area, which includes the retail park and leisure complex.

1. New Five Guys restaurant 

Fast food restaurant chain Five Guys opened its second city branch in November 2023 and it is in the former home of Frankie & Benny's in the Riverside Leisure Park.

The other Norwich location is along Orford Place and it offers customisable burgers, fries, milkshakes and more to eat in or takeaway.

2. Poundland closes

The Poundland shop in the Riverside Retail Park shut for good on Christmas Eve, with its replacement yet to be announced.

The discount chain also revealed that they are opening a new branch in the huge former home of BHS and Primark in St Stephens Street.

3. Plans for a new shop at the former Mothercare site

Cancer Research UK is hoping to move into the former Mothercare site in the Riverside Retail Park, between Next and Boots, which has been empty since 2020. 

Further details are yet to be announced, but early plans suggest the whole unit would be occupied by a charity shop and donation point.
