A local celebrity will sign copies of his autobiography later this month after celebrating a much-anticipated milestone birthday.
Malcolm Metcalf turns 90 today having completed his ambitious ’90 before 90’ challenge earlier this year.
The Gorleston pensioner wanted to try 90 new things before he turned 90, including riding a Harley-Davidson, feeding a giant sea turtle and flying an aeroplane.

His popular mission even led to Malcolm meeting the King during a visit to Priscilla Bacon Lodge and being introduced to Canaries fans on the pitch at Carrow Road.
“I’ve completed 106 things now," said Malcolm. "It’s been a wonderful year for me. I’m really looking forward to Saturday.”

It features stories of Malcolm’s life in his younger years, including tales of his hitchhiking journey from Great Yarmouth all the way to Australia, stopping over in countries including Iran and Afghanistan.
He hopes to raise money for the Priscilla Bacon Charity and is aiming for a total of £500 from book sales.

Co-landlord of the Longe Arms, Daryl Jones, said: “I think it’s important for us to help charities out and Malcolm’s story was one we really wanted to help with."

There will be a Christmas raffle and a coffee morning at the Spixworth pub.
Daryl added: “We’ll be doing some bacon rolls and food and any money made from those will go to Malcolm’s charity, it’s going to be a really exciting day for Malcolm.”
More donations for the Christmas raffle are being sought by Malcolm. Anyone who would like to donate a prize can bring it to the Longe Arms or to the Priscilla Bacon Hospice.
