A charity which helps men combat isolation and loneliness is celebrating its 10th anniversary - but needs to find a new home because of plans to develop Norwich's Anglia Square.

Norwich Men’s Shed, based in its workshop at Pitt Street, gives men, who may struggle with loneliness, social isolation and mental health, a place to learn skills and create projects.

Set up in 2013, the shed also gives them the opportunity to talk to others, helping with wellbeing.

But the leased workshop is due to be demolished as part of the multi-million revamp of Anglia Square - so the charity is looking for a new home.

It is keen to keep a central location, so it is easy for its members to get to.

Members sell their own craftwork to bring in much-needed money, but that only covers about 30pc of the running costs, so the charity is dependent on grants and donations.

Manager Roberta Wood said: "I’ve been working with Norwich Men’s Shed for nearly five years now, and the peer support and camaraderie I have witnessed over this time are truly incredible.

"Bonding over a workshop activity, our members share in-depth personal experiences and support each other with both physical and mental health.

"Our shed offers a safe, nurturing environment where members are wanted, valued, and needed. Without sounding overly dramatic, sheds can literally save lives.

"As a micro charity, we are proud to deliver a huge impact on a small budget, but we really need the community to support us with our next big move."
