Photos show the banks of the River Wensum in Norwich are inches from overflowing amid high tides.

Flood warnings are in place across Norfolk today due to a series of high spring tides that are set to continue into the weekend. 

Riverside homeowners along the River Yare in areas including Cantley, Brundall and Whitlingham have been warned that flooding of homes and businesses is likely. 

New images show high water levels along the River Wensum near the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge with water rising to the top of the quay heading.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "The current series of high spring tides will continue for the next few days and further warning messages may be issued.

"After the weekend, the tides will start to fall away, allowing the freshwater river flows to drain out to sea at low tide as normal."

There are two flood warnings in place in Norfolk for isolated low-lying properties along the River Waveney and for riverside properties along the Yare.

There are also six further flood alerts in place.
