A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of arson following high-profile fires around the city.

The arrest comes after blazes in large derelict buildings, including Trowse pumping station on Sunday.

There were 42 firefighters called to the blaze at the grade II listed building with appliances from North Earlham, Carrow, Fakenham and Hethersett assisted by aerial ladder platforms from North Earlham and Great Yarmouth.

Crews were on site from just before 9pm on Sunday until close to 5am on Monday, with initial investigations of a potential arson held up due to the site being dangerous to enter.

Another of the fires linked was at a disused hospital in Thorpe St Andrew on Thursday, October 19.

The teenager was arrested on Thursday, November 16 and taken to Aylsham Police Station for questioning.

He has since been released on bail with a clause to not enter any derelict buildings.

He has also been given a curfew and ordered to stay at home between the hours of 9pm and 6am.

Police are asking anyone with information or footage that could help the investigation to call Norfolk police on 101 quoting the relevant crime number.
