A popular city charity shop is closed but plans are in place for it to reopen in new premises soon.

YMCA in Anglia Square is one of the biggest charity shops in the city, specialising in furniture and clothes to become a go-to for many city thrifters.  

However, recent circumstances have seen it close while they wait for the paperwork on a new shop to be completed.

A YMCA spokeswoman said: “The store closed due to a maintenance issue which was water ingress.

“We are hoping to move to a nearby unit of a similar size, we are currently awaiting a lease completion.

“Once complete we plan to open as soon as possible with the same great mix of stock.” 

YMCA believe they are at the centre of their communities as money raised in their charity shops goes directly towards transforming the lives of young people in the area.  

Until the Anglia Square store reopens its nearest stores are in Castle Quarter and St Stephens Street.
