The pints will soon be flowing again at a village pub with a new family behind the bar.

Daryl Jones, 39, and his wife Carly, 34, have taken on The Longe Arms in Spixworth which they will be giving a "new lease of life".

Mr Jones, a chef who previously worked at Bure River Cottage, said: "We hope to bring back nice local food to this nice local pub by serving locally produced, handmade food.

"As well as the usual pub grub, we'll be doing roasts and our take on traditional dishes.

"We'll also be serving Strangers Coffee which should really help us push it forward."

The couple moved from Sprowston to Spixworth nearly three years ago with their three children and Mr Jones says the running of the pub will be a real family affair.

The pub has been closed for a number of weeks and has undergone some renovations with the help of a decorator.

It will be having a soft opening on Saturday before the official launch next weekend.

Shelley Rudling, a village parishioner, added: "This is such great news, the local people have been waiting for this to happen for such a long time."
