Revolutionary plans put forward by a South Norfolk councillor could see three villages on the edge of Norwich take a prominent role in the battle against climate change.
Labour representative for Hethersett, Bawburgh and Little Melton, John Morland, is proposing a community-owned onshore wind farm that would deliver "transformative change to the energy system".
It is hoped the project - which is understood to be at the very early stages of planning - would provide enough renewable energy to power homes, businesses and electric cars in the region.
"For too long, we have relied on energy produced and owned abroad," said Mr Morland.

"This has empowered oligarchs while multinational oil and gas companies make record profits.
"With prices reaching record highs, there has never been a more importat moment to invest in cheap, clean, renewable energy produced and owned right here in the UK.
"This scheme would see us develop a small-scale wind farm that would allow local people to own locally produced energy."
Mr Morland said initial talks with Hethersett and Bawburgh parish councils have been positive, while locals have also shown a great deal of interest in how the project would work.

The early stages of planning have also pinpointed an area between the old A11 and the new A11 as a potential spot for the wind farm.
"We're still at the proposal stage right now," added the district councillor.
"And we need to look into how it would be funded and maintained.
"But the point is that the climate is in crisis and we need to do something.
"I remember seeing a quote written on the Berlin Wall that I think is applicable here.
"Many small people who in many small places do many small things that can alter the face of the world."
