A dog with half its face missing, which had vets concerned he wouldn't "survive 24 hours", has made a miraculous recovery and found a loving home with a city family.
Jack, a nine-year-old German Shepherd mix, was living in squalor inside a Romanian factory yard living off scraps of food.
When a passer-by spotted that half his face had been torn away in unknown circumstances, vets weren't sure if he could be saved.

However nearly four months later Melissa Hewitt who lives in Larch Close, Sprowston, with four other rescue dogs - Ozzy, Bridgette, Louie and Norah - has given him a loving home after his miraculous recovery.
The 56-year-old said: "Jack's had a miserable life bless him.
"He was on his way out, with vets worried he wouldn't survive the next 24 hours because the tissue and flesh on his face was filled with maggots.
In order to stabalise Jack, he had two blood transfusions, two operations to repair his face and spent a total of three months at the vets.
On August 31 she was able to bring Jack to her home and is now giving him the best life possible - where he now enjoys scambled eggs and mackerel for breakfast.
She added: "He's settled so well at home and our other dogs all love and accepted him straight away.
"We're going to love and spoil him as best we can and enjoy some good years.
"It's extraordinary that he was able to make it through and live - now he's starting to come out of his shell.
"Honestly he's a walking miracle."
