Where to eat, drink, and shop sustainably in Norwich

Here is a round-up of seven environmentally-conscious finds from across the city

1. Slayy Vintage

Slayy Vintage was initially a Depop shop established by 18-year-old Rosie Dearlove in 2018. 

Today, it has its own store in Norwich's St Giles Street.

The brand is committed to sustainable fashion and rehoming pre-loved garments and, where possible, reworks and repairs clothing to give it a fresh lease of life. 

2. Kofra

Kofra is an independent coffee roaster and brewer with three locations across Norwich.

All of its coffee is sourced from green buyers which are intermediate organisations that ensure farmers get a high price for their products.

Kofra can be found in Onley Street, Upper St Giles and Bell Road.

3. Urban Jungle

Urban Jungle is a garden centre and cafe that immerses guests in a botanical wonderland while they shop or eat.

Its 20-year-long mission is to protect biodiversity and highlight the beauty that comes with sustainability.

Urban Jungle has venues in Old Costessey and Beccles. 

4. Ernie's Zero Waste Shop

Ernie's Zero Waste Shop in Anglia Square has been one of Norwich's most popular low-waste shops since it opened its doors in 2019.

It sells a variety of unpackaged, environmentally-conscious products including kitchenware, cleaning products, food, books and toys.

5. Taxi Vintage Clothing

This Norwich Market favourite carries a wide array of both men's and women's clothes.

Taxi's retro goods can be dated back to between the 1940s and 1990s, so you can expect to see a large range of variety on display. 

6. Rainbow Wholefoods

Since 1976, Richard Austin of Rainbow Wholefoods has sold 100pc vegetarian and GM-free foods, remedies, herbs, cleaning products, oils, pulses, and grains.

His products and mission have won awards including the Provamel Award for Best Healthfood Shop in the UK.

Customers can browse online or in-store at Davey Place in Norwich.

7. Substrata Wines

Substrata Wines on Norwich Market is one to browse for responsibly sourced wines from independent vineyards.

All stocked wines have been tried and loved by the sellers - and you'll enjoy them even more for knowing they're made with minimal additives.
