One of the original queens in the global smash-hit Six the Musical has been announced for the Norwich panto.

Millie O’Connell will play the title role in Sleeping Beauty at the Theatre Royal, which runs from December 9 2023 until January 7 2024.

She first performed in the city in 2018 at the Playhouse as Anne Boleyn on the debut tour of Six, which she went on to play on the West End.

She also headed to Norwich Theatre Royal earlier this year on the UK tour of The Cher Show and is in the vocal harmony girlband SVN.

She said: "I’m so excited to be in Norwich this year as your Sleeping Beauty!

"I am looking forward to a Christmas full of magic, alongside some wonderful people!”

She will join already announced performers Beverley Callard as the Evil Fairy, best known as Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, and returning favourites Joe Tracini and Richard Gauntlett as The Good Fairy and The Queen, respectively.

Stephen Crocker, Norwich Theatre chief executive and creative director, said: "We are overjoyed to be welcoming Millie back to Norwich and she will bring her fantastic musical talent to this year’s panto."
