People were shocked to see a woman trying to sell her dog at a Norwich pet shop, repeatedly dropping the price before abandoning the pet.

Nikki Winder, in her 50s, who lives near Longwater Retail Park in Costessey, spotted the woman outside Pets at Home.

The woman had tied up the dog, which is described as a "mixed breed", next to a 'for sale' sign.

The dog called "Rocky II" after the famous boxing film, was described as 11 months old and was said to be microchipped and up to date with vaccinations.

Ms Winder said: "The poor boy is only young and I could tell he was scared. He was panting and his eyes were red from stress, and I could see him trembling.

"Another worrying thing is that the dog was unneutered so whoever buys it could potentially use it for unsafe breeding practices."

Ms Winder also noticed that the woman had originally asked for £250 but later dropped the price to £200.

Pets at Home and the RSPCA have been approached for comment.
