Get all fired up as dragon boat racing is coming to Norwich later this year and the organisers want to make it an annual event.

After the success of the event at Ipswich Waterfront in Suffolk, it is launching at Lady Julian Bridge at Norwich Riverside on Saturday, September 16 from 10am.

Sponsored by Larking Gowen, the event will raise funds through sponsorship for Brave Futures, a charity that provides a vital support service to child victims and survivors of sexual abuse in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Registration is open until August 25, so there is plenty of time to get a team of up to 10 paddlers and a drummer together, with no experience required.

Groups will take to the water in ornate Chinese dragon boats to compete in a series of heats, culminating in a grand finale.

Sandra Lucas, corporate and events fundraiser for Brave Futures, said “This challenge promises some spectacular racing and a fantastic event for all the teams.

"We hope we can fill Riverside with spectators to cheer the crews on!”
