A Norwich tech wiz is starring in a new TV show which will see him repair everything from retro games consoles to Sinclair C5s.

Rob Howard, who runs The Vintage TV and Wireless Co in Millers Lane in NR3, will head up Retro Electronic Workshop, which will air for the first time next week.

It is being screened on Yesterday, which is channel 27 on Freeview, and the UKTV Play on-demand service.

The series will see electronics boffins fix a 1980s Atari, a 1970s jukebox and a 1950s Ferguson TV among other items bought for them by shop owners.

Mr Howard, who has worked in the electrical industry for more than 30 years, says he has always been interested in "old stuff".

He said: "I’m a Norwich lad, born and bred.

"I was always a little bit different to my contemporaries as a child, not listening to 80s pop, instead heading out with my pocket money to buy ancient 78rpm records.

"Money was a bit tight during the 80s and early 90s and I used to get electronic gear from skips and jumble sales, take it home and try to fix it.

"I suppose this is when I caught the bug, I now get to fiddle every day."

Rob is described as a "super-fixer" in the "dying art" of repairing electronics in advertising for the show.

He is joined by fellow fixer Matt Marchant, from Worthing, in repairing items found by Jamil and his dad T in London.

Rob added: "I don’t go to work, I have a paid hobby and that’s worth so much. I never get the Monday morning blues."

The first episode of Retro Electronic Workshop will air on Tuesday, July 18, and the series will run for 10 episodes.
