After a short battle with cancer the family of a man "who would do anything for anyone" are hoping to give him the send off he deserves.

Les Brett was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer around the rib cage in April before dying on June 19, aged 71.

Les, born in Gorleston and lived in Mile Cross with his wife Bridget, was best known for supporting his family, always in touch with his two daughters Kelsey and Gina, step-daughter Hannah and three sons Jack, Lewis and Tony.

Now the entire family are looking to return the favour by remembering Les with one last loving send-off.

Hannah Tye, one of Les' stepdaughters, said: "He was loved by everyone.

"He would do anything for anyone and even when he retired, he'd always help where he could - he'd give you his last penny if it meant it would help you.

"Les was the most selfless, generous and loving man - he loved everyone in the family including his grandchildren and in-laws.

"He's the person we went to in order to lift us up or make us laugh because he had the best sense of humour.

"He loved fishing and gardening but he'd always make time to help us all still."

A GoFundMe has been set up by Hannah to raise money to help pay for a memorial - with current donations reaching £4,400.

Hannah said the family have been "blown away by the generosity" of people so far, adding: "I wish he could see how loved he was.

"We all love and miss him so much we're struggling to come to terms with his death.

"Even though it's hard to accept he's gone I know he'll be looking down and proud of us."
